This book is part fairytale, part romantic comedy and all heart. It's a whacky love story along the lines of The Princess Bride. I thought it was a fun read and unlike anything else I've encountered. The Kingdom of the Dead is a well drawn world the author manages to make entertaining...an unrequited jazz dancer leading a motley crew of gatekeepers, dark angels and judges? Check! You can't help but root for Hugh to return to the Land of the Living...and to the love of his life.
