Halloween in America

Here in the states, Halloween can be fun for the whole family. Little kids, adults, and everyone in between can enjoy this amazing holiday by engaging in some of the many exciting Halloween traditions that we have here!

Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin Carving is a common activity that takes place in October. Pumpkins are pretty much sold in every grocery store, so buy one, cut of the top and take out the seeds (make sure to wear gloves because this part can get messy), and then carve something into the pumpkin. A carved pumpkin with a spooky face is known as a Jack O’Lantern, and people commonly display these outside of their houses on Halloween night for decorations—make sure to put candles in your Jack O’Lantern so that it glows and looks fabulous!

Trick-or-Treating

Little kids love to go trick-or-treating on Halloween. They dress up in costumes and go door-to-door with bags or buckets collecting candy. If you’re planning on staying home on Halloween this year and live in a somewhat residential neighborhood, don’t be surprised to hear several knocks on your door, and make sure to have some candy ready to hand out!

Halloween Parties

There are always multiple Halloween parties going on in October, no matter what city you’re in. Halloween isn’t just celebrated on the 31st; in fact, whenever Halloween falls on a weekday like it does this year, it’s usually also celebrated the weekends before and after. If you’re in the Boston area, then you should definitely check out both of our Halloween events! On Friday, October 26, make sure to check out the Hellraisers Ball at Cure Lounge in the heart of Boston…it’s going to be crazy! If you enjoy that one and are ready for more, make sure to also attend our Midnight Massacre event at the Harp in Boston’s west end for a night of fright, frolicking, and fun. There’s going to be a costume contest and the winner will get $500, so come dressed to impress!

Costume Ideas

Remember to be creative with your Halloween costumes. People dress up as everything from ghosts to animals to cartoon characters for Halloween. This year, some of the most popular costumes are going to include Hunger Games heroine Katniss Everdeen, “Gangnam Style” singerPSY who we all know and love, our favorite scowling Olympic gymnast/popular internet meme McKayla Maroney, and, of course, Magic Mike.
